Description
The StarTech.com adapter converts an internal IDC connection into a DB-9 serial port, with a low-profile format designed for Small Form Factor (SFF) chassis. Its grey colour and dimensions of 18.5 x 80 x 412 mm (width x height x depth) allow it to be integrated into compact equipment where interior space is limited. Connector 1 is IDC and connector 2 is DB-9, so you can run the RS232 signal from a motherboard header to the exterior of the chassis. Weighing 24 g, it barely adds any load to the assembly and makes mounting onto the equipment structure easier. This adapter is useful when you need to enable a serial port in a low-profile configuration without resorting to external solutions. The combination of IDC and DB-9 connectors covers the link between the internal header and the peripheral device. Its bracket-format construction allows it to be secured to the rear of the SFF chassis and keeps the port accessible.
